Problemi con Linux in dual boot

Ho un pc con un dual boot con Xubuntu 14.04 e Win  7.

Quando accendevo il pc compariva grub e mi faceva scegliere il sistema operativo da avviare.
All'improvviso il pc non parte più.

Mi compare il messaggio di pcc probe failed e non si avvia.  Ho provato con una live e il pc funziona quindi direi che è da escludere qualche problema hardware.

Ho tolto il disco e l'ho messo come esterno su una usb. Faccio partire il pc da un'altro hd sempre con Xubuntu installato e fin qui tutto bene.
Vedo le due partizioni correttamente montate dell'altro hd (che era quello principale).

Il bello viene adesso. Se provo ad accedere alla partizione Win non ci sono problemi.
Se invece provo ad accedere alla partizione linux succede questo:

Come posso risolvere?

Dalla live usa gparted, seleziona la partizione e scegli ndal menù controllo, per vedere se te la risistema.
In caso hai scelto il partizionamento LVM non funziona.

L'errore di I/O, si può verificare in alcuni casi di struttura FS rovinata e/o problemi hardware al disco.

C'erano effettivamente errori nel file system che ho sistemato con il comando FSCK.

Ho risolto metà del problema. Nel senso che adesso riesco di nuovo ad accedere ai dati se tengo il disco come esterno su una dock usb. Se invece lo metto come interno primario non si avvia. Compare grub correttamente, la partizione con Win si avvia correttamente ma se provo ad avviare Linux mi da sempre l'errore di prima e poi si blocca in kernel panic.

Avevi dei driver proprietari ?
Hai modificato qualche parametro in avvio ?

Fai un controllo con gsmartcontrol del disco, con una analisi approfondita e posta il risultato

Il problema è comparso dopo un aggiornamento. Nessun driver proprietario. Il pc è piuttosto anziano

Appena ho il risultato del test lo posto.

Si. Dentro avevo 3 o 4 versioni di kernel precedenti ma il risultato è sempre quello.

27 errori sul disco dicono poco, se non posti il log completo, anche perchè lo smart li registra tutti. Spesso non sono significativi.

Se questo problema è dovuto ad un aggiornamento guarda nel gestore pacchetti la cronologia, se ha synaptic oppure in /var/log/apt/history.log o in quella directory /var/log se in dmesg-kern o altri si rintraccia quali pacchetti hai installato e/o l'errore esatto, per vedere da cosa deriva.

ACPI probe failed l'ho visto spesso, ma non si tratta in genere di una cosa grave, perché passa ad altre funzioni.
Eventualmente posta anche l'hardware e il kernel, per capire se fosse andato fuori supporto o ci sia stata una "recessione", di qualche periferica.
